About us
About us
The Patidar community holds a deep and proud heritage rooted in ancient Indian civilization. Our lineage traces back to the revered sage Kashyapa, and over centuries, our identity evolved from Kurmi—the traditional agrarian class—to Kanbi, then Patel, and eventually Patidar, a name derived from the word patta, meaning land title or ownership. This reflects our historic role as landholders and cultivators, entrusted with feeding society and nurturing the land.
Historically, the community is believed to have migrated from the Punjab and northwestern regions of India to Gujarat around 700 CE, settling mainly in the fertile plains of the Charotar region. From here, two primary branches of the Patidar community emerged—Leuva, believed to descend from Lava, son of Lord Ram, and Kadva, associated with the 52 sons created by Goddess Amba, as preserved in Gujarati folklore. These stories not only give us a cultural and spiritual foundation but also highlight our connection to divine purpose and communal unity.
Our mission as Patidars has always been clear: to carry forward the values and traditions of our ancestors while embracing modern progress. From being skillful farmers and community leaders, we have grown into successful entrepreneurs, educators, professionals, and global citizens. We remain deeply committed to agriculture, innovation, social responsibility, and education, knowing that the strength of a community lies in its willingness to evolve while staying rooted.
Guided by timeless values of hard work, unity, integrity, truthfulness, and resilience, the Patidar community continues to thrive across generations. Inspired by the Vedic ideal Tuvikurmiḥ—describing a powerful, unshakable being—we strive to uphold our cultural heritage while making meaningful contributions to the world. Whether in villages, cities, or across the globe, we carry within us a shared identity built on tradition, leadership, and service to society.
